To honor the memory of Sacred Heart's ninth pastor, Fr. Michael Sepp (1953-2009), the Sepp family has established the Fr. Michael Sepp Scholarship Fund. In 2019, in honor of the 10th anniversary of Fr. Sepp’s passing, the scholarship amount was increased to a one time payment of $1,500. As always, it will be awarded to a Sacred Heart student or CCD student to help with his or her freshman year tuition at a Catholic high school. The student should be an exemplary young Catholic who attends mass and does parish service at Sacred Heart Church.
Students who wish to apply for the scholarship should complete the application below, and submit it by clicking the "Submit" button. In addition, the applicant must request a teacher or school official submit a letter of recommendation via email to [email protected] or by visiting https://bronxaltar.org/teacher-letter-of-recommendation.
The scholarship will be awarded to the student selected by the Sepp Family based on the application, the letter of recommendation, and parish service. All applicants will be notified in writing of the results of their application. The winner of the scholarship will be contacted directly by a member of Fr. Sepp’s family. The scholarship monies will be sent directly to the Catholic high school the student has chosen to attend.
Applications must be received by March 11th of each calendar year. The winner will be notified at the end of March.
For the first time, in 2021, the winner of the Fr. Michael Sepp Scholarship will have an opportunity to add $500 if the awardee attends Cardinal Spellman in the Bronx. Going forward, The Dr. Mary Sepp Scholarship will add an additional $500 to the Fr. Michael Sepp Scholarship when the winning scholar attends Cardinal Spellman High School - Fr. Michael and Dr. Mary Sepp's alma mater.
